1 SLNG PROVIDES MILITARY ASSISTANCE DURING THE DISASTER SITUATION

Under the guidance of Major General W M P M Wijesooriya RWP RSP ndu, the General Officer Commanding 57 Infantry Division, and the supervision of Colonel H H S P S De Silva RSP USP, the Commander 571 Infantry Brigade, a team of 02 X 24 troops from the 1 Sri Lanka National Guard (1 SLNG) was deployed on 27 November 2024 to assist families affected by severe flooding in Nambuwawa, Rasnayakapura.

The troops extended their support to flood-affected families by providing boats to transport dry rations arranged by government authorities to isolated households in the inundated Nambuwewa village with the participation of government officials. This timely intervention ensured that essential supplies reached those in need, highlighting the military’s commitment to aiding the public during disaster situations.
