DISASTER RELIEFS ACTIONS BY TROOPS OF 16TH BATTALION GAJABA REGIMENT

Under the guidance of Major General W M P M Wijesooriya RWP RSP ndu, the General Officer Commanding 57 Infantry Division, and the supervision of Brigadier K A D T P Wimalasena RWP RSP, Commander 143 Infantry Brigade, 01 X 25 troops of the 16 Gajaba Regiment (16 GR) provided vital assistance to the public during a disaster situation on 27 November 2024.

In response to adverse weather conditions, which caused a massive tree to fall and block traffic along the Anuradhapura–Puttalam main road (A 12) at Sirambiadiya, the 16 GR troops were deployed to clear the obstruction. Their swift and effective action restored the flow of traffic and minimized inconvenience to the public.

This operation highlights the military’s dedication to serving the nation and providing crucial support to civilians during emergencies.
