CONDUCTING AN EMERGENCY FIRE REHEARSAL AT THE GALLE BULK OIL DEPOT

The Fire and Safety Bureau of Ceylon Petroleum Storage Terminals Limited (CPSTL) organized a comprehensive emergency fire rehearsal at the Petroleum Storage Terminals in Magalle on 21 November 2024. The exercise, which took place from 1030 hrs to 1230 hrs, was aimed at enhancing preparedness and response capabilities in the event of a fire or other emergency situation involving bulk oil storage facilities.

The rehearsal included the participation of a team from the 2(V) Gemunu Watch comprising 01 X officer and 05 X Other Ranks, who actively contributed to this program. Members of the Sri Lanka Navy and representatives from civilian organizations also took part, emphasizing the collaborative approach needed for effective emergency response.

The exercise simulated various fire-related emergency scenarios to test and improve coordination, communication, and tactical responses among all participants. The focus was on ensuring that personnel could respond swiftly and efficiently while minimizing risks to life and property.
