Major General Lanka Amarapala RWP RSP ndc psc, Commander of Security Forces (West), inspected IDP Centers established for those affected by the recent heavy rains and subsequent flooding in the AOR. His visit aimed to assess the progress of relief services and humanitarian assistance provided by troops in coordination with government officials.
The inspection included visits to IDP centers located at Vidyavardhana Vidyalaya in Wellampitiya, Siddhartha Vidyalaya in Sedawatta, and Gamini Vidyalaya in Kotuvila. Major General Lanka Amarapala evaluated the living conditions of 130 families, comprising 581 individuals, residing in these camps.
During the visit, Major General Lanka Amarapala examined the sanitation facilities, food supplies, and medical services available to the displaced individuals. He also personally engaged with the affected families to inquire about their well-being and any additional support they might need. In addition, Major General Lanka Amarapala inspected the water pumping house at Kalupalama, Kolonnawa, which plays a crucial role in managing the flood situation.
Major General KADWNH Bandaranaike, Commander of the 14 Infantry Division, Brigadier MKDP Mapalagama, Commander of the 141 Infantry Brigade, Divisional Secretary of Kolonnawa, Priyanta Perera along with other government officials, also took part in the inspection.
