MAJOR GENERAL LANKA AMARAPALA RWP RSP ndc psc IS HOUNORED AS THE CHIEF GUEST OF THE PRIZE-GIVING CEREMONY OF DHARMAPALA VIDYALAYA

Major General Lanka Amarapala RWP RSP ndc psc, Commander of Security Forces (West) & Colonel Commandant Corps of Engineers graced Dharmapala Vidyalaya, Pannipitiya, as the Chief Guest at the Annual Prize Giving Ceremony 2023, held on Friday (11th).

The esteemed event took place at the multipurpose auditorium of the Faculty of Information Technology, University of Moratuwa, Diyagama. The ceremony began with a traditional welcome, where the principal, along with the Deputy Principals, teachers, and head prefects, warmly received Major General Lanka Amarapala and other distinguished invitees. The reception included the offering of a traditional sheaf of betel, followed by the ceremonial lighting of the oil lamp.

In her welcome address, Principal Mrs. Maheshika Rupasinghe greeted Major General Lanka Amarapala and the distinguished guests, setting the tone for the day's proceedings. During the event, Major General Lanka Amarapala presented awards to 390 students for their exceptional academic achievements. These students had excelled in the G.C.E. Advanced Level Examination, securing university placements, as well as in the G.C.E. Ordinary Level Examination and the Grade 5 Scholarship Examination for 2023. Special recognition was given to the top performers, including Nishantha Nadiranga, who excelled in the arts stream and was awarded Best Student, and Anjali Himasha, who was named Best Overall Student of 2023.

A key moment of the ceremony was the address by Major General Lanka Amarapala, a distinguished alumnus of Dharmapala Vidyalaya. In his speech, he expressed deep pride in returning to his alma mater and highlighted the vital role of education in shaping the leaders of tomorrow. He also underscored the importance of sports in building character and preparing individuals to face life's challenges. Addressing the 150 students who had secured university entrance, Major General Lanka Amarapala extended his heartfelt congratulations, urging them to strive for excellence and contribute to the nation as future leaders.

The event was marked by a joyful atmosphere, as students, teachers, and parents gathered to celebrate the impressive achievements and lasting legacy of Dharmapala Vidyalaya, Pannipitiya, during this notable prize-giving ceremony.
