MAJOR GENERAL LANKA AMARAPALA RWP RSP ndc psc COMMANDS ARMY DAY PARADE MARKING 75th ANNIVERSARY OF THE SRI LANKA ARMY

The Sri Lanka Army celebrated its 75th anniversary on October 10 at the Panagoda Army Cantonment, marking decades of dedication and sacrifice in the defense of the nation. Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage RWP RSP ndu, Commander of the Army, presided over the event as the Chief Guest. This milestone reflects the Army’s crucial role in securing peace following more than 30 years of conflict while reaffirming its unwavering commitment to national security.

A key feature of the anniversary celebrations was the Army Day Parade, led by Major General Lanka Amarapala RWP RSP ndc psc, Commander of Security Forces (West) and Colonel Commandant of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers. The parade included 75 officers and 626 soldiers representing all 25 regiments, along with Colour Squads, in an impressive display of unity and military precision.

The celebration was attended by a distinguished gathering of former Army Commanders, Chiefs of Staff, Deputy Chiefs of Staff, and their spouses. Joining them were the current Chief of Staff, Deputy Chief of Staff, the Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force, Principal Staff Officers, Security Force Commanders, Officers, their spouses, and other ranks, all of whom underscored the deep respect and camaraderie within the Army community.
