MAJOR GENERAL LANKA AMARAPALA GRACES A HOUSE-WARMING CEREMONY AS THE CHIEF GUEST

Major General Lanka Amarapala RWP RSP ndc psc, the Commander Security Forces (West), graced a house-warming ceremony as the Chief Guest on Wednesday (9th).

In celebration of the 75th anniversary of Sri Lanka Army, on the conceptual direction of Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage RWP RSP ndu, the Commander of the Army, under the guidance of the Commander Security Forces (West), Major General Lanka Amarapala, on the constant supervision of the General Officer Commanding 14 Infantry Division, Major General K A W N H Bandaranayake USP, the Commander 141 Infantry Brigade Brigadier R R De S Dharmawickrema RSP, and the Commanding Officer 8 Battalion Sri Lanka Light Infantry, the troops of the 8 Battalion Sri Lanka Light Infantry successfully completed the construction of a house for Mrs. Liyanarachchi Gnanadasa and his family at No. 196/7, Temple Road, Kuttiwila, Kirindiwela.

The project was made possible through financial and material support from the numerous local donors. The house was officially opened by the Commander Security Forces (West), Major General Lanka Amarapala, at the auspicious time, amidst religious rites and rituals, and handed over the key of the newly constructed house to the beneficiary. Major General Lanka Amarapala extended his best wishes to the benefitted family for their future endeavors. This community project aims to enhance the living standards of the family and to build the social cohesion. The Commander Security Forces (West) appreciated the project team of 8 Battalion Sri Lanka Light Infantry for their significant contributions by presenting them with a certificate.

The ceremony was attended by the General Officer Commanding 14 Infantry Division Major General K A W N H Bandaranayake USP, the Commander 141 Infantry Brigade Brigadier R R de S Dharmawickrema RSP, the Commanding Officer of 8 Battalion Sri Lanka Light Infantry, Major Y D N De Silva RWP RSP, Divisional Secretary – Kirindiwela, Mr. N A A S Nishshankaarachci, Assistant Divisional Secretary – Kirindiwela, Mr M C Jayathissa together several senior officers, government officials, donors, and villagers.
