On 30 May 2024, the 61 Infantry Division celebrated its 16th anniversary amidst military formalities under the guidance of Major General KHMS Wikramaratne RSP, the General Officer Commanding, 61 Infantry Division. The anniversary celebrations had commenced with a friendly cricket tournament on 27 May 2024, where Officers, Other Ranks, and civil staff of the 61 Infantry Division participated. Additionally, on 29 May 2024, the Elders of the ‘Wijerathna Elders’ Home in Rathgama were treated to a delicious lunch.
On the anniversary day, Major General KHMS Wikramaratne RSP was warmly welcomed by staff Officers and saluted in a formal Guard Turnout. Later, he planted a sapling to commemorate the 16th Anniversary of the 61 Infantry Division. Following this, he participated in the All Rank lunch, providing an opportunity to interact with the Officers and Other Ranks of the Division. The anniversary celebrations were attended by the Deputy General Officer Commanding, Senior Officers, Officers, and Other Ranks.
