61 Infantry Division troops continue their emergency flood relief operations in Aththudawa, Nariduwa, Naimbala 1 and 2 GN Divisions under Thihagoda DS Division.
Troops also continued providing of cooked meals to those who have been affected due to floods.
Meanwhile, 9 SLSR troops under the 613 Infantry Brigade continuing humanitarian assistance by providing transport facilities by boats and military vehicles for stranded villagers due to floods in Thihagoda DS Division . The 3 (V) Gemunu Watch troops similarly took part in distributing essential items and meals for the affected- community.
Further, Major General RAJN Ranasinghe RSP USP ndc, The General Officer Commanding of 61 Infantry Division participated the DMC conference presided by Cabinet Minister of Power and Energy Hon. Kanchana Wijesekera on 07 Oct 2023 and discussed about current disaster situation, remedial actions and future plans to take the situation normalcy in Matara District.
