The troops of the Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment held a Guard Turnout and the Guard of Honour to pay tribute to Major General U.D. Wijesekera RWP RSP USP rcds psc, the outgoing Commander Security Forces (West). The event, which took place on 06 October 2023, at the Security Forces Headquarters (West) in Panagoda.
Following the salute, Major General U.D. Wijesekera RWP RSP USP rcds psc participated in a group photograph with the troops, capturing the momentous occasion. This provided a lasting memory for both the outgoing Commander and the Officers who had the privilege of serving under his command.
After the formalities, tea and refreshments were served, providing an opportunity for Major General U.D. Wijesekera RWP RSP USP rcds psc to interact with the officers and other ranks expressing gratitude for their valuable service during his tenure. Subsequently, as a token of appreciation for his outstanding leadership and dedication, Major General U.D. Wijesekera RWP RSP USP rcds psc was presented with mementos by the West troops.
The same evening at the Security Forces Headquarters (West) Officers’ Mess, a customary farewell dinner was hosted in honour of the outgoing West Commander by Officers of all under-command Infantry Divisions, Brigades and units.
General Officer Commandings of 61 and 14 Infantry Divisions, Brigade Commanders, Commanding Officers, Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks of the Security Forces Headquarters (West) participated in the day’s programme.
