The troops of the Sri Lanka Army General Service Corps held a Guard Turnout and the Guard of Honour to pay tribute to Major General D.M.K.D.B.Pussella RWP RSP, the outgoing Commander Security Forces (West). The event, which took place on 15 August 2023, at the Security Forces Headquarters (West) in Panagoda.
Following the salute, Major General D.M.K.D.B.Pussella RWP RSP, participated in a group photograph with the troops, capturing the momentous occasion. This provided a lasting memory for both the outgoing Commander and the Officers who had the privilege of serving under his command.
After the formalities, tea and refreshments were served, providing an opportunity for Major General D.M.K.D.B. Pussella RWP RSP to interact with the officers and exchange pleasantries. Later, Major General Pussella RWP RSP joined an All Rank lunch and addressed the troops, expressing gratitude for their valuable service during his tenure.
Subsequently, as a token of appreciation for his outstanding leadership and dedication, Major General D.M.K.D.B. Pussella RWP RSP was presented with mementos by the West troops. Those symbolic gestures represented gratitude and honor towards the outgoing Commander, acknowledging his contributions to the Security Forces (West) and his commitment to the duty.
The same evening at the Security Forces Headquarters (West) Officers’ Mess, a customary farewell dinner was hosted in honour of the outgoing West Commander by Officers of all under-command Infantry Divisions, Brigades and units.
In addition, prior to relinquishing his appointment as the Commander Security Forces (West), Major General D.M.K.D.B. Pussella RWP RSP, visited Divisions, Brigades and Battalions that are under command to Security Forces (West) and addressed the troops.
Deputy General Officer Commanding 14 Infantry Division, Brigade Commanders, Commanding Officers, Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks of the Security Forces Headquarters (West) participated in the day’s programme.
