On 13 July 2023, Major General D. M. K. D. B. Pussella RWP RSP, Commander Security Forces (West), gifted a Buddha statue of his own to be placed inside the newly built shrine room at the 1 Sri Lanka Army Engineer Service Regiment Panagoda. This serene and sacred shrine room was specially built to provide a place for religious observances and meditation for the military personnel stationed at the Regiment.
Thus, as a part of the religious observances, monks were invited to perform rituals and blessings for the Buddha statue. Major General D. M. K. D. B. Pussella RWP RSP, along with senior officers and Other Ranks, made offerings to the statue as a mark of respect and devotion.
In line with the day’s programme, a special initiative was also organized to the school children. Nineteen students from Manakada Kanishta Vidyalaya in Kosgama were chosen to receive gift packs, which included stationery, sports items, and other useful items for their education and personal development.
At the conclusion of the programme, the participants and the students served with refreshments that had been prepared by the Army personnel of 1 Sri Lanka Army Engineer Service Regiment.
Further, Brigadier General Staff, Brigadier Admin & Quartering, Centre Commandant of Sri Lanka Army Engineer Service Regiment, Several Senior Officers, Officers, Other Ranks, Principal and Staff of Manakada Kanishta Vidyalaya joined this event.
