The troops of 8 Battalion Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment, under the 611 Infantry Brigade of 61 Infantry Division of Security Forces (West), recently conducted a specially designed leadership training programme for the 50 students including prefects of Udamakadawara Kanishta Vidyalaya in Kegalle. The programme, which took place on 01 July 2023, was organized at the request of the school authority.
With the Blessing of the Commander, Security Forces (West) and the General Officer Commanding, 61 Infantry Division, the Brigade Commander of 611 Infantry Brigade provided guidelines for the project. The aim of the programme was to develop the students' leadership qualities, teamwork and team-building capacities, as well as their personalities and social etiquette.
The leadership programme consisted of a variety of sessions, including lectures, indoor and outdoor exercises, and demonstrations. These sessions were designed to provide the students with a realistic training experience, allowing them to gain valuable insights and experiences in the art of leadership.
In order to ensure the success of this community project, the Commanding Officer of the 8 Battalion Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment closely supervised the Army's involvement.
Further, this leadership training programme provided the students of Udamakadawara Kanishta Vidyalaya with a unique opportunity to enhance their leadership skills and develop important qualities that will benefit them in their future endeavours.
