A group of Army personnel belonging to 2 (v) Battalion Sri Lanka Light Infantry of 144 Infantry Brigade recently participated in a Dengue prevention campaign in collaboration with the officials of Gothatuwa MOH office and police personnel of Mulleriyawa police station. The project was conducted on 24 June 2023, covering 504 Kelanimulla Grama Nilsdari Division under the Gothatuwa MOH office.
Through this project, more than 90 houses were inspected by the participants and necessary guidelines were given to the residents on how to prevent the dengue epidemic in the surrounding. The guidelines were included removing stagnant water, covering water storage containers, keeping the surrounding clean, etc.
The Brigade Commander of 144 Infantry Brigade and Commanding Officer of 2 (v) Battalion Sri Lanka Light Infantry closely monitored the Army's assistance as per the directions given by the Commander Security Forces (West). Further, the Army's assistance in this Dengue prevention campaign was much appreciated by the other participants as well as the local community.
