The eldest son of a low-income family in the Ahungalla area, despite the financial hardships faced by his family, scored an impressive 188 marks in the Grade Five scholarship examination - 2022 and was entered into the prestigious Colombo Royal College. However, without the necessary funds to continue his education, his dreams of a brighter future were in jeopardy.
Accordingly, the aforesaid child's parents reached out to the Civil Affairs Officer of the 61 Infantry Division, who coordinated with Mr. Prasath Lokubalasuriya, an old boy of the Royal College of Colombo and Chief Organizer of 'Atha Hitha Foundation’ to provide a much-needed donation for the successful completion of said child's educational activities as per the guidelines given by the General Officer Commanding, 61 Infantry Division, Major General H.M.U. Herath RWP RSP VSV USP Hdmc psc.
Thereby, Mr. Prasath Lokubalasuriya stepped up to donate Rs. 30000.00 towards this noble cause, while the General Officer Commanding of 61 Infantry Division also presented a cash prize for this act of kindness from his own pocket.
But this noble task doesn't end. Mr. Lokubalasuriya and several old pupils of the Royal College, Colombo, recognized the potential of this bright young student and intervened to implement a suitable programme for his future education, from grade 6 all the way to university.
