In line with the school revival project organized by the Lions Club, Army personnel of the 1 Sri Lanka National Guard renovated the two buildings of Maddepola Primary School located at Giriulla and handed them over to the school staff on 28 March 2023, with a simple ceremony.
According to the request of the school staff and the Lions Club, as well as with the approval of the Commander Security Forces (West), Army soldiers carried out renovation works by color washing and plastering the dilapidated walls of the aforesaid two buildings, within a day on the 11th of March 2023, under the close supervision of the Commander 143 Infantry Brigade and Commanding Officer of 1 Sri Lanka National Guard. Meanwhile, parallel to the same project, the school playground was also renovated by the Lions Club.
On the invitation of the school staff, Commander 143 Infantry Brigade, Commanding Officer of 1 Sri Lanka National Guard, Officers, Other Ranks, and officials of Lions Club attended the re-opening ceremony of renovated school buildings and playground. Further, materials and funds for both projects were provided by the Lions Club.
