On 02 March 2023, responding to the emergency, Army personnel of 14 (v) Battalion Gemunu Watch under 613 Infantry Brigade belonging to 61 Infantry Division of Security Forces (West) assisted in the removal of a Nuga tree that had fallen on two houses located at Madawalamulla Grama Niladari Division in Kadawath Sathara Divisional Secretariat office area, Galle, due to heavy rains and gushing winds.
As per the direction of the Commander Security Forces (West) and General Officer Commanding 61 Infantry Division, one Officer and 15 Other Ranks quickly rushed to the venue and carried out the task under the guidance of their Brigade Commander and Commanding Officer upon the request made by the officials of the Disaster Management Centre.
