WEST TROOPS CONTRIBUTED TO ANOTHER COMMUNITY PROJECT

Upon the charitable sponsorship, extended by the Past Pupils Association of Royal College, Colombo and Alumni Association of University of Sri Jayewardenepura, through the coordination of Mr. Prabath Lokubalasuriya, the founder of ''Atha Hitha'' Foundation and Army personnel of 612 Infantry Brigade belongs to 61 Infantry Division of Security Forces (West), a large stock of school accessories were donated to 200 needy students studying in 10 Schools under Zonal Education Office, Matugama on 24 February 2023 at Meril Kariyawasam National College, Meegahatenna.

Prior to this Community project, all the arrangements and needy students have been properly synchronized by the Army personnel serving under 612 Infantry Brigade, as per the directions of the Commander Security Forces (West), Major General D M K D B Pussella RWP RSP and following guidance given by the General Officer Commanding of 61 Infantry Division, Major General H M U Herath RWP RSP USP hdmc psc along with the Commander 612 Infantry Brigade Colonel H K L J Perera WWV RWP RSP.

Each pack is consisted of exercise books worth Rs. 3600.00 and the total project cost around Rs. 720,000.00. Further, the intention of this programme is to upgrade the education of underprivileged school children with in the Security Forces (West).

The General Officer Commanding of 61 Infantry Division, Major General H M U Herath RWP RSP USP hdmc psc, joined the distribution ceremony as the chief guest on behalf of the Commander, Security Forces (West) according to the invitation of the Commander 612 Infantry Brigade. Meanwhile, Senior Officers, Officers, Other Ranks, sponsors and school staff also present at the distribution location.
