COMMANDER SECURITY FORCES (WEST) AND THE COLONEL OF THE REGIMENT OF MECHANIZED INFANTRY REGIMENT HOSTS 16 TH ANNIVERSARY OF MECHANIZED INFANTRY REGIMENT

The Mechanized Infantry Regiment celebrated its 16th anniversary on 11th February 2023 at the Regimental Centre with the participation of the Commander Security Forces (West) and the Colonel of the Regiment, Major General D M K D B Pussella RWP RSP.

After receiving a Guard turnout, Colonel of the Regiment paid his tribute to the fallen war heroes at the war heroes monument followed by a colourful military parade comprised with Infantry Carrying Vehicles (ICVs) and Armoured Personnel Carriers (APCs). According to the day’s proceedings he attended for the planting of a sapling, Regimental council, All Ranks lunch hosted by the Regiment. Aftermath, The all-night Pirith chanting was conducted on the 11th evening with a colourful procession and followed by almsgiving in the following day morning to invoke the blessings for the betterment of the Regiment.

In line with the event proceedings, a dinner night was held at the warrant officers and sergeants mess on 12th February 2023. As the Chief Guest, the Colonel of the Regiment, together with Council members including the Brigade Commander, Centre Commandant, all Commanding Officers, Regimental Sergeant Majors from the Brigade, Training Centre, all battalions, senior Non-Commissioned Officers of the Regimental staff and cross section from each Battalion, attended for the event.
