One officer and 40 Other Ranks belonging to 14(v) Battalion Gamunu Watch under the 613 Infantry Brigade of 61 Infantry Division of Security Forces (West) launched a coastal belt cleaning project on 28 January 2023, in the Dewata coastal area in Galle, which remained highly polluted due to heaps of discarded wrappers, empty beer cans and polythene waste.
Under the direction of the Commander Security Forces (West), the General Officer Commanding of 61 Infantry Division initiated this community project in coordination with the Commander 613 Infantry Brigade.
This project has been launched with the close supervision of the Second in Command of 14(v) Battalion Gamunu Watch, in parallel to the series of community programmes dedicated for the year 2023.
