According to the information received from the residents of Wadduwa, a fire occurred at around evening hours on 28 January 2023 in a paddy field at Weragama.
When the news was reported, a contingent of Army personnel consisting of one officer and eight Other Ranks from the 1 Sri Lanka Army Pioneer Corps quickly rushed to the venue and extended their utmost assistance to control the fire, joining hands with the Fire Brigade - Kalutara and residents in the area.
The fire was brought under control within two hours, preventing its further spread. The fire has damaged approximately 10 acres of the entire land.
As per the direction given by the Commander Security Forces (West), the Brigade Commander of 612 Infantry Brigade and the Commanding Officer of the 1 Sri Lanka Army Pioneer Corps closely supervised the task.
