The Disaster Management Center has been informed by the residents in the area regarding a risk of stone fall located on one of the mountain in the general area of Dadigamuwa - Kaduwela as the result of recent heavy rains.
Accordingly, as per the request made by the Disaster Management Center, a contingent of Army personnel belonging to the 2 (v) Battalion Sri Lanka Light Infantry under 144 Infantry Brigade of Security Forces (West) swiftly rushed to the location and provided their utmost assistance as needed to remove the stone from the mountain at around the morning hours on 27 January 2023.
The residents also said that if the stone fall occurs, it will cause more damage to the houses and properties built along the border of the mountain.
As per the direction of the Commander Security Forces (West), the Commander 144 Infantry Brigade and the Commanding Officer of 2 (v) Battalion Sri Lanka Light Infantry passed down the necessary guidelines for Army personnel who engaged in the mission.
Further, within two hours, the stone had been removed from the location by Army personnel together with officials of the Disaster Management Center.
