A contingent of Army personnel from the 1 Sri Lanka National Guard under 143 Infantry Brigade of 14 Infantry Division of Security Forces (West) extended their assistance to the Teaching Hospital, Kurunegala for the management of clerical health services after sections of nursing assistants and minor staff on a strike over trade union demands on 09 January 2023.
The Commander Security Forces (West), Major General D M K D B Pussella RWP RSP, on the directions of Lieutenant General H L V M Liyanage RWP RSP ndu, Commander of the Army, instructed the General Officer Commanding of 14 Infantry Division to provide necessary assistance by employing Army troops for administrative support, as requested by the Hospital authorities.
Similarly, the Commander of 143 Infantry Brigade and the Commanding Officer of 1 Sri Lanka National Guard closely supervised entrusted emergency duties.
