14 Battalion of Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment organized a simple and solemn event on 26 December 2022 at the Lauris Children’s Orphanage in Maligakanda with the intention of remembering war fallen heroes of 14 Battalion Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment who made the supreme sacrifice during the humanitarian operations at Komalamunei area in Mullaittivu.
The troops served a delicious lunch for 23 resident kids in the orphanage and donated sanitary and essential items worth of Rs. 15000 sponsored by Officers and Other Ranks in order to merit - making. The cordial interaction was culminated with an entertaining musical event, provided by 14 Battalion Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment calypso band.
The programme was initiated by Major P A T Niroshan, Commanding Officer, 14 Battalion Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment under the guidance of Major General J M R N K Jayamanna RWP , General Officer Commanding, 14 Infantry Division and Brigadier J K R P Jayasinghe RWP RSP USP , Commander, 142 Infantry Brigade with the blessings of Major General D M K D B Pussella RWP RSP, the Commander, Security Forces (West).
