Responding to the need for immediate action, Army personnel of the 8 Battalion Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment under the 611 Infantry Brigade of the Security Forces (West) recently rushed to Kegalle town and doused the fire that was occurred at a footwear shop on 27 December 2022.
As per the direction given by the Commander Security Forces (West) as well as close supervision of the Commander 611 Infantry Brigade and Commanding Officer 8 Battalion Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment, a contingent of Army personnel, including one Officer and 35 Other Ranks, rushed to the scene and commenced work to bring the situation under control in collaboration with the fire brigades of Kandy and Kurunegala along the police personnel of Kegalle.
Further, the fire was totally brought under control by Army personnel within a few hours before spreading to the rest of the buildings.
