COMMANDER SECURITY FORCES (WEST) ASSUMED DUTIES AS THE COLONEL OF THE REGIMENT OF MECHANIZED INFANTRY

The Commander, Security Forces (West) Major General D M K D B Pussella RWP RSP assumed duties as the 14th Colonel of the Regiment of Mechanized Infantry Regiment on 01 December 2022 under the patronage of religious observances at Mechanized Infantry Regimental Centre - Dambulla.

The formal military ceremony was commenced soon after the Guard turnout at the entrance. The newly appointed Colonel of the Regiment was received by Major General H M U Herath RWP RSP USP Hdmc psc – General Officer Commanding of 61 Infantry Division along with Major General S J Priyadarshana RWP RSP USP - General Officer Commanding of 66 Infantry Division, Brigadier B P G K Balasooriya RSP psc, Commander, Mechanized Infantry Brigade, Brigadier A M A Abeysinghe RWP RSP USP psc - Centre Commandant, Mechanized Infantry Regiment.

The charming and proud, dignified military Guard of Honour was reviewed by the newly appointed Colonel of the Regiment and was accompanied by the Parade Commander together with the Commander, Mechanized Infantry Brigade and Centre Commandant in accordance with military traditions.

Then, Major General D M K D B Pussella RWP RSP paid floral tribute at the War Heroes Monument in memory of all those gallant Officers and Other Ranks of the Regiment who made the supreme sacrifice for the motherland.

Later, the newly appointed Colonel of the Regiment in his new office placed a signature in a formal document symbolizing the assumption of duties as the Colonel of the Regiment blessed with religious observances.

According to the day’s proceedings, Major General D M K D B Pussella RWP RSP planted a sapling to mark this significant day followed by troop address and All Ranks lunch at the Regimental Centre.
