Upon sponsorship, extended by a civil person who is residing at Pliyandala, with the coordination of the Commanding Officer of 14 (v) Battalion the Gemunu Watch, a stock of ration packs was distributed among 40 students including two Desktop computers with accessories donated for Omantha Vidyalaya in 613 Infantry Brigade area in Galle on 23 November 2022.
As per the guidance given by the General Officer Commanding, 61 Infantry Division, Major General H M U Herath RWP RSP USP Hdmc psc and the Commander 613 Infantry Brigade, 14 (v) Battalion the Gemunu Watch of the 613 Infantry Brigade of Security Forces (West) launched the programme.
Each ration pack that includes rice, dhal, sugar and tea packs cost Rs.2000.00 and the total cost of the project was around Rs 380,000.00 including computers.
The aim of this project is to upgrade the education of underprivileged school children and enhance the civil-military coordination within the Security Forces (West) AOR.
