NEW GENERAL OFFICER COMMANDING 61 INFANTRY DIVISION TAKES OVER DUTIES

Major General HMU Herath RWP RSP USP Hdmc psc assumed duties as 17th General Officer Commanding of the 61 Infantry Division of the Security Forces (West) on 14 November during a simple ceremony at the Divisional Headquarters in Boossa.

At the entrance, the incoming General Officer Commanding reviewed the Guard Turnout, presented by 14 Battalion the Gemunu Watch troops on arrival at the Headquarters premises.

Subsequently, the newly-appointed General Officer Commanding assumed office, amid the chanting of ‘Seth Pirith’ of Buddhist monks by leaving his signature on an official document in order to signify the acceptance of the new office. In line with formalities, the new General Officer Commanding planted a sapling, prior to the formal troop address where he expressed his vision.

611 and 612 Brigade Commanders, Commanding Officers Staff Officers and Other Ranks participated in the day’s event.
