ARMY PERSONNEL OF 61 INFANTRY DIVISION CONDUCTED SEVERAL COMMUNITY PROGRAMMES IN PARALLEL TO THE ARMY DAY - 2022

In line with the 73 anniversary of the Sri Lanka Army, 611, 612 and 613 Infantry Brigades under 61 Infantry Division of Security Forces (West) organized several Community programmes in their respective AORs with the direction of the Commander Security Forces (West), Major General D M K D B Pussella RWP RSP in the month of October 2022.

Accordingly, with the intention of promoting oral health amongst elderly home residents in Karunaratne Elderly Home at Karaputugala – Kamburupitiya a humanitarian programme has been conducted by including sanitation works, an entertainment programme with lunch for 45 elderly people by Army personnel of 613 Infantry Brigade and 3 (v) Battalion Gemunu Watch on 10 October 2022. This noble event has been launched with the guidance of the 61 Infantry Division and under the close supervision of the 613 Infantry Brigade.

Meanwhile, Army personnel of 612 Infantry Brigade conducted a Shramadana Campaign at Meegahathanna District Hospital and Medical Officer of Health Office along with the government officials on 10 October 2022, parallel to Army day -2022. Thereby, troops had been involved in cleaning the surrounding and renovating the buildings at the respective locations.

Subsequently, following sponsorship provided by Mrs. Priyanthi Gamage who is currently residing in the United States of America, together with troops of 611 Infantry Brigade under the patronage of the Commander of 611 Infantry Brigade have coordinated another event of donating two desktop computers with new internet connection and an electric water pump to Galapitamada primary school on 11 October 2022.

All the necessities for the aforesaid programmes were facilitated by the respective Brigade Commanders and the troops who engaged in the events have rendered their utmost assistance to mark seventy three years of survival as a distinguished and admirable force.
