The Army, round the clock ready to undertake any emergency challenges in relation to floods, catastrophes or disasters. Hence, continuous training disaster management by way of the conducting of workshops and training programmes are the key to success and maintaining readiness.
Accordingly, with the close supervision of the Commander 612 Infantry Brigade Brigadier L G B Kariyawasam RWP RSP USP, 612 Infantry Brigade under Security Forces (West) organized a two-days workshop on "Disaster Management’ at 12 Field Engineers camp premises – Pitigala on 26 and 27 September 2022.
During the workshop, Army personnel were educated both theoretically and practically on the Introduction to Disaster Management, the Disaster Risk Management Framework and emergency response mechanisms in Sri Lanka, etc. Several officials of the Disaster Management Centre – Walallawita and Army personnel with expertise in the subjects conducted, lectures and discussions, including field training activities.
The Divisional Secretariat – Wallallawita and around 60 Army personnel, including few officers under 612 Infantry Brigade AOR, participated in this timely important workshop session.
