As per the direction given by the Directorate of Operations, troops serving in both 14 and 61 Infantry Divisions of the Security Forces (West) launched a Dengue Prevention programme in parallel to the ongoing island-wide National Dengue epidemic Prevention Campaign during 1 -3 September 2022 covering Colombo, Gampaha, Kegalle, Kaluthara, Galle Districts after many cases were reported.
Around 170 Army personnel from 14 and 61 Infantry Divisions, together with the Police, several medical officers and Public Health Inspectors of the respective areas contributed to the awareness programme.
During this programme, houses, government and private institutes and religious places, schools and other public places were inspected by the members of the programme and the people were educated on the rapid spread of the Dengue epidemic and its effect.
