The national Vesak Festival was held at ancient Kuragala Rajamaha Viharaya from 15 to 21 May 2022. Marking this special day, a Vesak lanterns competition was held at ancient Kuragala Rajamaha Viharaya with the participation of the Sri Lanka Army, Navy and Air Force.
Further, apart from the Army, four wings from the Sri Lanka Air Force and five commands from the Sri Lanka Navy also participated in the Vesak lanterns competition and among those lanterns, the Civil Engineering Wing of the Air Force and the Western Naval Command of the Navy have won the first places respectively.
Accordingly, the winners of the sister services were awarded gifts under the patronage of the Commander Security Forces (West) and the Chairman of Army Buddhist Association Major General D M K D B Pussella RWP RSP with the participation of several senior officers at the Security Forces Headquarters (West) on 30 May 2022.
