CONTRIBUTION OF SECURITY FORCES WEST TOWARDS DENGUE PREVENTION

The Troops of Security Forces (West) joined hands with the Public Health Inspectors (PHI) and government officials to conduct a six-day Dengue prevention programme covering Galle and Matara districts from 18 to 24 May 2022. It has been organized in parallel with the ongoing island-wide Dengue prevention campaign.

During this programme, it has been inspected more than 9300 places including residences, public places, and workplaces. Furthermore, both state officials and Army troops educated the public on ‘how Dengue can be effectively eliminated by maintaining a good hygienic atmosphere at workplaces and the residences’.

As per the instructions given by the Office of Chief of Defence Staff and the Directorate of Operations, the said prevention programme was supported by 61 Infantry Division and 613 Infantry Brigade under the supervision of Security Forces Headquarters (West). More than 180 Army troops actively participated in the Dengue prevention programme.
