NEW GENERAL OFFICER COMMANDING – 61 INFANTRY DIVISION ASSUMES DUTIES

Major General W R M M Rathnayake RWP RSP USP ndu on 05 May 2022 assumed office as the 16th General Officer commanding of the 61 Infantry Division with a simple ceremony.

The newly-appointed General Officer commanding - 61 Infantry Division was greeted with a Guard Turnout soon after his arrival at the 61 Infantry Division Headquarters premises in accordance with military traditions.

Amidst religious observances, he placed his signature in an official document to signify the acceptance of his new office.

Thereafter, the newly-appointed General Officer commanding - 61 Infantry Division sat for a group photograph and subsequently planted a sapling in the camp premises.

Setting out his scope of work and duties, Major General W R M M Rathnayake RWP RSP USP ndu addressed the troops and highlighted the importance of team spirit among the soldiers to enhance the reputation of the Sri Lanka Army. Later on, he Participated for All Ranks tea and took time off to interact with Officers and Other Ranks bringing the day' s arrangement to culmination.

Brigade Commanders of 611, 612 and 613 Infantry Brigades, Staff Officers and Other Ranks of the 61 Infantry Division participated at the ceremony.
