Strengthening the government’s effort in combating the COVID-19 pandemic, with the directions of General L H S C Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc MPhil, Chief of Defence Staff and the Commander of the Army, another special mobile vaccination drive was commenced on 1 February 2022 onwards under the close supervision of Major General K Liyanage RWP RSP ndu, Commander Security Forces (West).
This mobile vaccination programme is carried out covering 9 districts including Colombo, Gampaha, Puttalam, Kurunegala, Kegalle, Ratnapura, Kalutara, Galle and mathara within the Security Forces (West) Area of Responsibility.
All necessary arrangements required for the vaccination programme is carried out by the respective Divisions, Brigades and Battalions under command to the security Forces Headquarters (West). Similarly, troops are rolling out their collective effort to facilitate a high standard of service to the civilians in this demanding situation. In addition to that Sri Lanka Army Medical Corps Base hospital – Panagoda is contributing their utmost assistance to make this programme a success.
Moreover, at the moment this special mobile vaccination drive has been administered around 82000 Booster doses of Pfizer Vaccine and further, this noble project is conducted for the betterment of the people and it is highly appreciated by the public praising the army’s role in the fight against the pandemic. The project is being carried out in accordance with COVID - 19 protocols.
