On Friday afternoon, 04 February 2022, troops of the 8 Battalion Gamunu Watch under command to the 611 Infantry Brigade rushed to mitigate a fast-spreading wildfire in the general area Galaudakanda , Paragala, Ayagama forest reservation, as directed by the Commander, Security Forces (West), Major General K Liyanage RWP RSP ndu, with the supervision of the General Officer Commanding of the 61 Infantry Division.
8 Battalion Gamunu Watch rushed one officer and 30 other ranks to the scene to aid the expedition in extinguishing the fire.
