An unannounced casual visit of General L H S C SILVA WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc MPhil, Chief of Defence Staff, Commander of the Army, and Head of the Green Agriculture Operation Center (GAOC) to the Panagoda Army Cantonment on 14 January 2022 and the Army chief observed several lapses regarding kitchen premises and dining of the Other Ranks during the visit. Accordingly, Commander Security Forces (West), Major General K Liyanage RWP RSP ndu paid a visit at the army cantonment Panagoda on Tuesday (25) in order to reconcile those observations.
During the visit, the Commander Security Forces (West) Mainly focused on messing facilities of the Other Ranks of the Regimental Centres, Battalions, Army Physical Training School, Sports Village, School of Army Band and Performing Arts, and Army Base Hospital which are located at the Army Cantonment Panagoda.
Consequently, the Commander Security Forces (West) initially inspected several kitchen premises where lunch is cooked and dining halls of Other Ranks. Similarly, he observed the utensils being used to create meals and exchanged his views with the Centre Commandants, Commanding Officers, chefs and Other Ranks, questioning the quality of food variety and calorie content, among other things. He inquired about the quality of the food and other issues, and later, he took the time off to inspect the cleanliness of the surroundings within the cantonment. In addition, during the visit, the Commander Security Forces (West) also observed the accommodation of the parade troops who are participating in the 74th Independence day.
During the visit the Commander Security Forces (West) was accompanied by Col M B L Perera RSP USP psc Col GS Security Forces Headquarters (West), Lt Col M A S Jayarathna RSP Col AQ Security Forces Headquarters (West), Lt col K C P K Vithanage RSP USP Log1 Security Forces Headquarters (West) and few senior officers.
