The Troops of Security Forces (West) joined hands with the Public Health Inspectors (PHI) and government officials to conduct a four-day Dengue prevention programme covering 8 districts (Gampha, Colombo, Kurunegala, Puttalam, Kegalle, Ratnapura, Kalutara and Matara) and 105 MOH Offices from 4 January to 8 January 2022. It has been organized in parallel with the ongoing island-wide Dengue prevention campaign.
During this four-day programme, both state officials and Army troops educated the public on ‘how effectively Dengue can be eliminated by maintaining a good hygienic atmosphere at workplaces and the residences’.
On the direction of General L H S C Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc MPhil, Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army, the said prevention programme was supported by 14 and 61 Infantry Divisions under the Security Forces Headquarters (West) and Regimental Centres belong to the Security Forces Headquarters (West). More than 900 Army troops actively participated in the four-day Dengue prevention programme.
