Troops of 12 Field Engineers and 1 Sri Lanka Pioneer Corps under 61 Infantry Division offered their assistance to Nagoda and Panadura Base Hospitals respectively for management of skeletal health services after sections of the Medical Assistants for strike of Staff went on strike over unmet trade union demands on Wednesday (01) December 2021.
On the direction of General Shavendra Silva, Chief of Defence Staff, Commander of the Army and Head of the National Operations Centre for Prevention of COVID 19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) with the supervision of the Commander Security Forces (West) Major General D G S Senarath Yapa RWP RSP ndu, General Officer Commanding 61 Infantry Division , Commander 612 Infantry Brigade and Commanding Officer 12 Field Engineers and Commanding Officer 1 Sri Lanka Pioneer Corps promptly activated to cover the duties of hospital Nursing Assistants of the Minor Staff in those hospitals.
