NEW WEST COMMANDER ASSUMES DUTIES

Major General H L V M Liyanage RWP RSP ndu assumed office as the new Commander, Security Forces -West (SF-WEST) on Tuesday (20) April 2021 with a simple ceremony.

The new Security Forces Commander (West) was awarded with a Guard Turnout and a Guard of Honour soon after his arrival in the premises in accordance with military traditions.

After the formal military honours, Major General H L V M Liyanage RWP RSP ndu auspiciously took over duties as the 10th Commander of Security Forces (West) amid the religious observances and placed his signature in an official document to signify the acceptance of his new office.

Then, Maj Gen Vikum Liyanage planted a sapling in front of the main office complex to mark the assumption of duties and subsequently addressed the troops. Afterwards he participated in an all rank tea table where he shared a couple of views with all ranks.

The General Officer Commanding of 14 and 61 Inf Divisions, Brigade Commanders of under Command Brigades, Directors of the Directorates and Centre Commandants of the RHQs located in the cantonment, Commanding Officers of under command and affiliated Bns, officers and other ranks of the SFHQ (West) were present at the ceremony.
