A group of about 290 troops of 14 Division and 61 Division offered their assistance to hospitals in Colombo,Gampaha,Kurunegala, Puttalam,Ratnapura,kegalle,Kalutara,galle and matara Districts for the management of skeletal health services after sections of the minor staff went on strike on trade union issues on Wednesday (24) February 2021.
On the direction of General Shavendra Silva, Chief of Defence Staff, Commander of the Army and Head of the National Operations Centre for Prevention of COVID 19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) with the supervision of the Commander SF – West Major General Wasantha Abrew , respective General Officer Commandings , Brigade Commanders and Commanding Officers Promptly activated to cover the duties of hospital minor staff.
