With the direction of the Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Mahesh Senanayake, Major General Sathyappriya Liyanage, Commander - Security Forces (West) and Chairman Army Rugger Committee, symbolically commenced the construction of new proposed Rugby Ground at the Army Cantonment, Panagoda on Wednesday (23) January 2019 in order to cater for the present day demands of sports.
Afterwards, the Commander - Security Forces (West) unveiled the symbolic plaque that marked the inauguration. Senior officers, officers and members of Army Rugby team participated for the event.
The construction of Rugby Ground has been planned to complete in a very short period of time. This will be executed in combined support of Sri Lanka Engineers and Corps of Engineers services under the supervision of SF HQ (West).
