The annual ‘Health Run & Walk’ of the Sri Lanka Medical Association (SLMA) on the theme ‘Eat Wise - Drop a Size’ took place at the BMICH on Sunday (24) with the participation of Army troops of the Security Force Headquarters - West (SFHQ-West).
More than 150 troops of the SFHQ-West including 5 Officers supported the arrangements on the directions of the Commander, Security Forces – West, Major General Sathyapriya Liyanage.
After a health check of the runners at 6.15 a.m. and followed by warming up exercises at 6.45 a.m., the run kicked-off sharp at 7.00 a.m.
The run beginning at BMICH premises covered Bauddhaloka Mawatha-Maitland Crescent - Race Course Grounds - Philip Gunewardena Mawatha and returned to the BMICH along the same Bauddhaloka Mawatha.
The 2.8km walk covering about 36 minutes concluded at 8.15 a.m. with a post-exercise cool down session, followed by an interactive and entertainment session, ended with an awarding ceremony for participants.
Hon. Minister of Health, Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine, Dr. Rajitha Senaratne was also present during the event.
