The Commander Security Forces (West) Major General SDT Liyanage WWV RWP ndc psc made his formal visit to the 582 Brigade AOR, on Friday, 01 Jun 18.
The Commander SF (West) was warmly welcomed by Major General ALSK Perera RWP RSPUSP ndu - Commander 58 Division, Brigadier SMSPB Samarakoon RWP RSP - Commander 582 Brigade and Lieutenant Colonel KPP Karunanayake - Commanding Officer – 9 GW at the arrival of the headquarters 9 Battalion of the Gemunu Watch.
Then the Commander SF(West) was updated on the role and tasks pertaining to the 582 Brigade by the Commander 582 Brigade .
Afterwards the Commander SF(West) addressed the troops at the headquarters 9 GW Regiment and urged them to the validity of soldiering and responsibilities of a soldier at the present context and, harmfulness of soldiers addiction and involvement of trafficking narcotics. The Commander took this opportunity to appreciate the hard work done by the 582 Brigade and under command troops during the recently occurred flood situation.
Before departure, Commander SF(West) made a visit to newly ear marked location to establish 582 Brigade HQ area at Elakandha Wattha- Horana, and temporally located 582 Brigade Headquarters at Wagawattha.
