Symbolizing the initial commencement of this year’s Vesak celebrations on Vesak Full Moon Poayaday (April 29) troops of the Security Force (West) at Panagoda Army Cantonment together with the members of the Army Buddhist Association held a full day “Sil” observance programme at Panagoda Sri Bodhirajarama Temple with the participation of Commander SF (West) Major General Sathyappriya Liyanage. There were more than 5000 devotees participated for this “Sil” programme and “Bodhi Poojawa” was held in the evening.
The Vesak Zone inside the Sri Bhodhirajarama Temple premises was inaugurated by Commander SF (West) during a brief ceremony held in the evening, with fascinating Vesak lanterns and other colourful decorations which were made by soldiers serving at Panagoda Army Cantonment using local raw materials. A large gathering of Senior Officers and Officers attended the occasion together with Other Ranks.
