Security Force Headquarters (West) conducted an awareness programme on impact of social media on the instructions and guidance of the Commander of the Army, on 04 April 2018 at auditorium of RHQ SLSC.
Over 220 Officers and Other Ranks from all under command formations of SFHQ (West) AOR gathered for the programme which was conducted by Commanding Officer - 12 SLSC (Cyber Security) Colonel SPP Pakshaweera.
Participants were educated on maintaining their privacy in Social Media and using of social media as a military personals. In addition, they were apprised of the adverse impact of posting statements propagating hatred, sharing sensitive security information and uploading unauthorized photos. Further, the session also covered the legal implications against military personnel who are bounded by both civil and military law when engaging in unacceptable activities through social media.
