The Troops of Security Force (West) continued search and relief operations, in flood-affected areas with the participation of more than 500 Army personnel including Officers on Saturday (2).
Troops are largely deployed in Bandaragama, Milleniya, Matugama, Wallalawita, Beruwala, Kalutara, Horana areas under specific Divisional secretariats in the Kalutara District. 40 Army personnel in four separate 10-man teams are working with Ceylon Electricity Board authorities round the clock in power disrupted areas.
Troops of the 9th Gemunu Watch (GW) serving the 582 Brigade of the 58 Division under the Security Force (West), in liaison with Ceylon Electricity Board authorities and Divisional Secretariat officials on the directions of Comd Security Force (West) Maj General Sudantha Ranasinghe and the Supervision of the General Officer Commanding 58 Division, Brigadier Sumith Attapattu are supporting power restoration work, clearing of roads and supplying other daily needs for victims in Kalutara District.
