The Nature conservation Awareness Programme SFHQ (West) - 2015
SF HQ (West) initiated a tree Planting Programme in relation to Nature Conservation Project organized by Sri Lanka Army, with the aim of conserving and develop the coastal belt as well as the land areas of Sri Lanka in Western, North Western, Sothern and Sabaragamuwa provinces. In that 100.000 trees of different kind will be planted in selected 287 locations along the coastal belt and selected inland areas. According to the plan 250 varieties of plants will be planted during the programme.This project will help to protect the coastal belt as well as beautify the environment while safeguard and improve the ecosystem.
A series of successful awareness programmes on above Tree Planting Project was conducted by SF HQ (West) AOR. During these programmes, lectures and presentations were conducted by the Staff Offrs of SF HQ (West) for the participants educate them on the validity, requirement and present situation of the project.
The first awareness programme was held at 58 Div AOR at 583 Bde on 07 October 2015 at Kegalle which was followed by tree planting event on 08 Oct 2015 at same venue.The second awareness programme in 58 Divwas held at 581 Bde at Boossa on 08 October 2015. In accordance with that tree planting project in Galle district will be held on 26th Oct 2015 by 58 Div. In 14 Div AOR the awareness programme was commenced on 12 October 2015 at 142 Bde at Kohuwala and tree planting event will be held at Colombo and Kalutara districts on 26 October 2015.
