SFHQ-West Initiated Tree Planting Goes to Hiriwadunna Central, Pinnawala in Kegalle District
One more phase of the \'Prevent Disasters Through Greenary\' (A Country Filled with Trees & a Tomorrow without Natural Disasters) project, aimed at planting trees across the coastal belt from the South to the northwestern areas, got underway at Hiriwadunna Central premises, Pinnawala on Friday (9) on the directions of Major General Ubaya Medawala, Commander, Security Force Headquarters, West (SFHQ-West).
The programme covered planting of 50 saplings of fruits and other shady trees inside Hiriwadunna Central, premises and around with the participation of students, together with education, environmental, conservation authorities and a gathering of senior officers, including the General Officer Commanding, 58 Division, Commander,583 Brigade of the SFHQ-West.
In the meantime, Major General Ubaya Medawela on the same occasion distributed another 250 plants among representatives of 10 schools in the area.
Divisional Secretariat in Rambukkana, District Secretariat, Kegalle, Regional Education Director, Mawanella, Superintendent of Police, Kegalle, Forest Conservation Officer, Rambukkana and State Officials extended their support for the success of the project.
