Commannder Addresses Troops at SF HQ - West

Lieutenant General Crishanthe De Silva, Commander of the Army on Monday (29) evening delivered his first formal address to more than 4600 troops, serving the Security Force Headquarters -West (SFHQ-West) after his assumption of office as Commander of the Army. The day\'s programme got underway after Major General Ubaya Medawela Commander, SFHQ-West warmly received the visiting Army Chief on arrival. In accordance with military formalities, he reviewed the Guard Turnout at the entrance to the SFHQ-West premises. Afterwards the Guard of Honour accorded to the visiting Commander saluted him. At the Sri Lanka Army General Service Corps (SLAGSC) Regimental Headquarters Lecture Hall, the visiting Army Chief during subsequent separate meetings with Major General Ubaya Medawela, Commander, SFHQ-West, General Officers Commanding of all Divisions, Brigades and Units clearly, emphasized his vision for the Army before he moved to the SLAGSC Officers\' Mess to meet up with other rankers who were waiting to listen to the Commander. During his first troop address at the SFHQ-West, the Commander stressed the importance of collective commitment. Moreover, the Commander highlighted the importance of discipline at all levels, maintenance of proper coordination for communication and continuation of excellent dedicated services. The Commander specified importance of maintaining outstanding relationship with civilians in respective areas and implementing projects to promote harmony and understanding with civilians. As the final leg of the programme, the Commander unveiled the Statue of an Ancient Sri Lankan Soldier and opened the newly built pond and the fountain. He also signed the Visitors\' Book to mark his visit to the SFHQ-West.
